Adtalem Global Education operates Ross University School of Medicine (RUSM) and American University School of Medicine (AUC), two leading international medical schools in the Caribbean that graduate hundreds of service-orientation and globally-minded physicians each year. We are looking for a motivated, self-driven communications specialist to support both medical schools in executing their strategic communications plans with a focus on growing colleague, student and alumni engagement while enhancing brand awareness among new, potential students.


Under the direction of RUSM and AUC’s communications managers, the specialist will collaborate with various university departments to prepare and review internal and external communications, including  email campaigns, webinars, bulletins, newsletters, town halls, website stories, spotlight features, blog posts, video scripts, and social media campaigns. As a part of that work, the specialist will also be tasked with regularly tracking and reporting on performance metrics to help identify areas where each school can elevate and enhance their communications and build on their reputation and awareness among aspiring medical students.


This position will blend communications and project management and will include information management, project resource coordination, and program evaluation.


The role is based out of our downtown Chicago office and will be a combination of working in the office and remote work.



  • Monitors and reviews communications to all audiences to ensure that consistent, relevant and compliant messages are distributed.

  • Prepares communications and distributes to the appropriate parties.

  • Coordinates and routes communications through appropriate channels for approvals.

  • Coordinates items posted on medical schools’ website and student portal which includes preparing content, working with various departments to get content posted in a timely manner and ensuring outdated content is removed.

  • Develops social media campaigns that highlight key university milestones and content and contributes to each university’s social media content calendar and planning.

    • Maintains a key performance metric dashboard for each university that tracks email engagement, newsletter readership, website views, and social media engagement.

  • Manage assigned communication publications.

  • Completes other duties as assigned.



  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably with a major in Journalism, Communications or related area.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in communications.
  • Previous experience with a web design and web content management a plus.
  • Knowledge of social media platforms; experience with Hootsuite preferred.
  • Must be very collaborative.
  • Must have strong writing and editing skills.
  • Must be self-starter with demonstrated ability to consistently meet deadlines.
  • PC proficiency and Microsoft Office Suite experience.
  • Basic understanding of public relations, persuasion, image, and consistency of message.
  • Ability to work effectively both as an individual contributor and as part of a team.
  • Well organized with ability to multi-task.
